A young, successful man wanted to know how much he had to give to get into heaven. Jesus responded, “everything.” This man was very invested in the world so the answer he received was too much for him. As we look at God's response we too may feel the cost is impossibly high, but God knows this and immediately gives hope. Even though we are incapable of giving everything without fail to God, Jesus has on our behalf.

So the new question Jesus forces us to consider is this, “Will you continue to bet on yourself OR will you wager everything on me?”
